Jewellery Care & Warranty

Jewellery Care & Warranty

Every keepsake we craft carries more than materials—it holds memory, meaning, and emotion. With a little extra care, your piece can be treasured for a lifetime.

How should I care for my jewellery?

Our handcrafted keepsakes can be worn daily but are delicate and should be treated very gently. Please avoid water, hand sanitisers, moisture, moisturisers and body lotions, tanning products,  perfume, chemicals and cleaning products, which can damage resin and metals. It is impossible to list every single factor that could damage your jewellery, so we recommend using common sense based on the list above.  When not being worn, store your piece in its original packaging or a soft pouch away from direct light and air. The better you take care of your jewellery, the longer your special keepsake will last.

Can I wear it daily?

You can. However, we recommend removing your keepsake during activities like showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping. Treat it like you would any fine jewellery—something precious to be cherished with care. These are not pieces that should be worn 24 hours per day.

Things to note:

Pendants - Please take care of you pendants and chains especially if wearing daily/frequently. Pendants are exposed to chemicals such as perfume and fake tan which will damage your mental and resin. It is extremely important to ensure they are not exposed to these chemicals.

Rings - Please be very gentle with your ring bands. They are fine delicate pieces and can be bent if too much force is used. Is it important not to force them on and off your finger. Please ensure the correct size if purchased. Take extra care with"sol" and "Selene" due to the nature of their bands (bubble and twisted bands) this can make them more difficult to clean and remove tarnish from.

How do I clean it?

Use a soft, dry polishing cloth to gently wipe the surface. We recommend purchasing a silver polishing cloth if you have purchased silver jewellery or a gold polishing cloth if you have purchased gold filled or solid gold jewellery. Polishing cloths can be purchased from all jewellers.  Do not use liquids or abrasive materials, as these may damage the resin or metal finish.

What is considered normal ageing?

Over time, resin may take on a warm, golden hue and develop a natural patina. This is a normal part of the ageing process with absolutely all resin. Metals like sterling silver and gold-filled components may also tarnish, this is completely normal (unless purchasing solid gold). Please do not panic if your jewellery tarnishes - your jewellery is not ruined!! A polishing cloth will remove the tarnish and restore to the original metal.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes — all of our keepsakes come with a 6-month warranty from the date of delivery. This covers manufacturing defects such as:

  • Loose or faulty stone settings
  • Major structural issues with bezels or bands (as long as they have been cared for correctly. We do not cover bent bands from being too hard on your jewellery.)
  • Cracking of resin from improper curing or workmanship

If you believe your piece is faulty, please contact us at hello@thememorycollective.com.au with photos and your order number so we can assess the issue. Do not continue to wear the item if it appears damaged.

What isn't covered by the warranty?

Our warranty does not cover:

  • General wear and tear including scratches, tarnishing, or thinning of metal
  • Accidental damage (drops, breaks, bent claws or bands)
  • Exposure to water, chemicals, perfumes, or cleaning agents
  • Discolouration or fading of resin or inclusions over time
  • Damage from misuse, improper storage, or third-party alterations
  • Loss or theft of jewellery

These are considered part of the natural lifecycle of handmade jewellery and are not considered defects.

Repairs outside warranty

We're still here to support you. If your keepsake needs attention beyond the warranty period, we offer a paid repair service. Quotes are provided before any work is done so you know what to expect. There may be limitations to what we can repair, for example we can not re-solder metal as the heat will cause damage to your resin stone.
